Paul hears the Galatians are seemingly being influenced by dogmatic Jews and a spirit of witchcraft to accept circumcision. He stresses simple faith in Christ’s atoning death, not in the Law.
Note Galatians 3:16: This verse refers to Genesis 12:7 and 22:17 in which God promised the land and the gate of the enemy to Christ. Some modern translations erroneously use the plural of ‘descendant’ in these two Genesis references.
