Nehemiah organized the people into families and assigned them specific sections of the walls and gates to rebuild. In verse 8 we see a perfume maker as one of the builders. He was probably a great guy, but building walls was likely not his strength. It’s clear Nehemiah is working with what he has. Sometimes people claim they can’t move forward because they are missing something that is needed. God may be expecting us to do the best we can with what we have.

About this Plan

This is part three of a four part plan to read the books of the Bible that tell of the historical events. Although the Bible contains many stories, it is one epic story of God’s interactions with humanity. One day per week can be used to catch up on missed readings or for reflection.
