How Should I Pray?Sample
Day #4: How to Pray – (Part 3 – Guidance and Protection)
1) “And lead us not into temptation…” (guidance)
Let’s get this clear: The Lord never leads us into temptation. So, what does Jesus mean? Clearly, we know that trials and temptations will come. When we are in the vulnerable place of being tempted, we need God’s power and strength to overcome and provide our way out.
2) “… but deliver us from the evil one.” (protection)
There is evil in this world, ultimately led by the devil himself. Praying for deliverance from the evil one is a clear admission of the battleground. We know who ultimately wins as “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (or in our temptation)”. For believers, God lives IN us. He who is within you is greater. Greater than any problem. Greater than any difficulty. Greater than the devil. Greater than anything you will ever face. As we submit ourselves to the work of the Father and resist the devil, the enemy will flee and we will be delivered. As we live yielded to Him, He is our ultimate protection.
Do you trust God’s guidance and His strength in trying times? Do you pray for His protection from the ways of the enemy?
About this Plan
How are we to pray to an almighty and all knowing God? Jesus taught His disciples how to pray when they asked Him the same question. There is much we can learn from His example and teaching.
