DAY 18 OF 30

Do you ever feel like your life is getting rocked and blown out of control?

I recently got the chance to be in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Bridge. The weather was gusty, cold and foggy. Strong winds buffeted every boat out on the harbor … and they were often enveloped by the dense fog.

Watching the boats on the water reminded me of the story in the Bible about a time when Jesus and his disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee during a huge storm. The rain and wind stirred up waves that nearly capsized their boat. The disciples were terrified ... but Jesus was sleeping on a cushion in the stern of the boat. Eventually, things got so bad that the disciples finally woke Jesus, and he got up, told the storm to “be quiet,” and everything became calm.

“Where is your faith?” Jesus then asked his followers.

I think I know how the disciples felt.

Whenever I’m facing a storm in life and Jesus seems silent, it’s easy to start panicking in the moment. But later, after that particular storm has passed, I often question where my faith was. You see, even though Jesus was sleeping in the story, he was always in control—and I believe that he is in control of your life too! All he asks is for you to have faith in him.

Is your boat getting rocked today? Then I want to pray for you by name. To do this, I'm going to give you my cell phone number to text—201-831-7155. If you text me, I will respond—personally—and pray for you. If you’re outside of the U.S., you can DM me via Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/aussiedave.

For reflection:

"Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm." — Luke 8:24

About this Plan

Follow The Rabbi

Want to transform your faith this year? Disciples in the 1st century were transformed by spending as much time as possible with their rabbi. This devotion will help you do that by taking you through all 4 gospels in a month. As you spend time with Jesus—your rabbi—you will become more like him.
