The Daily Dose: 30 Days to a Healthy SoulSample
Rest Up
Psalms 61:2 "From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
When I was in medical school, I had a favorite verse. It was Psalm 61:2: “When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Seems like in those days I was always overwhelmed by something. Yet somehow the moment I would pray the words of King David, my heart would find its resting place.
These days I still get overwhelmed. I try to control my circumstances. I fight and I strain until I finally slow down enough to open God’s Word. The pages still fall to Psalm 61:2. When my heart gets overwhelmed, God still leads me to the rock that is higher than I. I’m reminded that the same God who got me through med school will get me through my present struggles no matter how big they are. He’s the rock my heart rests in when nothing else will do.
Won’t you run to Him right now if your heart feels overwhelmed?
Question:
What circumstances are overwhelming you right now? Memorize Psalm 61:2 and pray it to the Lord today.
