DAY 4 OF 4

#BeSuccessful

If polled, who wouldn’t want success to be part of their life’s story? I sure want it; how about you? At the end of my life I’m going to want to look back and see that I gave my all and lived and worked and ministered and led with excellence. I want all that God offers, the whole shebang. I’m willing to do my part, and I want His name elevated above all others, mine included.

I’ve longed to be successful in the calling, the assignment that God has for me. My goal has always been to make a difference, to lead others to Christ, and to really use the gifts, skills and talents that He has given me. But I’ll admit, success to me has also included things like how much money I’m making, titles, and recognition.

When I entered the field of social media, I was quickly hit with the idea that success depended on how many followers you had; it was your “proof” of online success. And sadly, in today’s social-media-driven world, I think success has become about making a name for ourselves. Success has become our idol, our identity. It’s how we prove to others and ourselves that we are “worthy.” And because of this thought process, I think we’ve traded a God-filled life for a life filled with stress, busyness, confusion, competition and comparisons.

We’ve fallen for the lie that success will make us happier. That success will fulfill us. That success will allow us to reach more people and help more people. That success will ultimately fill the gaps in our hearts and lives that have been aching for far too long.

You see, we’ve traded our God-given dream for the American dream because we’ve believed that the American dream will bring us happiness, money and fulfillment much more than what God’s dream will ever give us. And if we’re honest with ourselves, the American dream is all about what’s in it for us, our selfish desires. Whereas the God-given dream is for the benefit of others, how we can serve and help others be who God has called them to be.

So, how can we #BeDifferent and move forward into the calling that God has given us, while also being successful for the benefit of others? Let’s keep God’s perspective on success. Aim high, work hard, pray always, focus now, surrender your dreams, expect His strength, live and work for Him, to see His name in lights through the work He establishes through you!

Success for the online Christian woman carries with it eternal significance.

Know this today, what you write online matters. What you share online matters. The graphics that you create for social media matter. The comments you share matter. Everything you do online matters. And every word you write and graphic you create is ultimately helping people draw closer to Jesus.

Our goal in life and in the digital space is to always move people into conversations with God. We have such a unique opportunity to infuse hope into a world that seems to be screaming bad news on a daily basis. We have the opportunity to share the freedom that can be found in Christ alone. And whether you are a church, business, nonprofit or individual, you too have the opportunity to share why you have the hope that you do. Because ultimately, it’s in Him where our success and fulfillment will be found.

Today, don’t be afraid to let God share with you what His definition of success is for your online presence.

About this Plan

#BeWorthFollowing

Spend just a few minutes on any of the major social media platforms and you’ll find that women are longing for encouragement, hope, purpose, connection and acceptance, but yet, they’re not finding that. As women of faith, we have an online responsibility. We can choose to #BeWorthFollowing and in turn, be different and influence the many lives we encounter online, on a daily basis.
