Day 3: Significance

I put on my best 3-piece suit, picked out the most beautiful flowers I could find, cleaned out the carriage, and picked up Sawyer at 5:30 sharp. She had picked out her dress. Mom had done her hair and even put a little makeup on her. I pulled the car around, rang the doorbell, and there she was, the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen. It was time for our Daddy/Daughter Dance.

We drove to the venue, and there, we danced the night away. I didn't care how I danced, and thankfully, neither did she. I didn't care about who else was there, because she was the only little girl I saw. My evening had one purpose, to make her feel like the most beautiful and special girl in the room.

It is amazing to think that she consists of half of me and half of my wife. It is so weird to see little versions of my hands at the end of her arms. To think that something was created in my image is more than I can comprehend. Yet that image-bearer is so amazingly significant and important to me. Not because of what she's done, or what she's going to do. She's wonderful to me because of who she is, and I want her to know that. Because I love her.

You are created in the image of God. In the beginning, God created mankind in His image, bearing His likeness. You carry Imago Dei—the Image of God. Because of this, mankind is the most beautiful of all His creation—His masterpiece, the most special and significant thing to Him. Your value to Him doesn’t lie in what you've done or haven't done for Him. You're special because of who you are to God. In fact, you are so special to Him that He is willing to make you a temple of His Holy Spirit.

Just know, God desires to pick you up at 5:30 sharp, but it doesn't take your best clothes, or your hair to be just right. It doesn't take you being on your best behavior or earning His love. He just wants you to open the door and let Him truly see you. When He looks at you, He sees the most beautiful and special person, because of who you are. Because you are His workmanship. Because you are His. Because He loves you.
