DAY 30 OF 30

Read Psalm 145:3-7

3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
 his greatness no one can fathom.
4 One generation commends your works to another;
 they tell of your mighty acts.
5 They speak of the glorious splendour of your majesty –
 and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
6 They tell of the power of your awesome works –
 and I will proclaim your great deeds.
7 They celebrate your abundant goodness
 and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

“Nothing Special”

When my friends and I finally visited the Eiffel Tower, we behaved like typical tourists—gasping in amazement and taking tons of photos. A man watching us close by, however, said, “It’s nothing special. I see it every day.”

We can become so used to the things we see every day that we don’t think they are great anymore. We’re surrounded by God’s amazing creation all the time, but somehow, our busy, distracted lives can make us pass it by without giving it a second thought. We can even forget about what Jesus did on the cross for us. Being a part of God’s family can quickly become “nothing special”.

God promises to always be with us in every situation—that’s incredibly special! Do you remember the times He helped you through difficult circumstances or answered your prayers?

I love what the author of Psalm 145 says: “I will meditate on your wonderful works” (v. 5). Take time today to step back from just “doing life” to think about God’s “wonderful works” and all that He has done for us! —JS

What “wonderful works” have you seen God doing today?

Talk to God

Father, thank You for being with me wherever I go. Help me to remember how special it is to be Your child and to constantly be amazed by what You do.
