DAY 2 OF 5

God’s Grace Is Already Yours

In some Bible translations, the word “grace” is translated as “undeserved favor”. God’s grace already belongs to every one of His children; it doesn’t depend on the things we have done or have not done, but on what Jesus has already done for us. Grace cannot be earned; God grants it free of charge to all who believe in Jesus, without restrictions or conditions.

When Jesus was crucified between two criminals, He was fully aware that neither of them could ever do anything to earn His grace. One of them abused Him, together with the rest of the bloodthirsty crowd: “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other man pleaded with Him: “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Jesus needed no time at all to find an answer: “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:39, 42–43, NKJV).

Purely through believing in Jesus, that criminal is now together with Jesus in Heaven. When you are at your lowest, you can still pray to God for His grace and be certain that He will give it to you. This grace is more than enough for today, for tomorrow and for the rest of your life. There is no need for you to feel despondent or inadequate. It is actually good to fail now and then, because failure makes you all the more dependent on God’s grace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You for offering me Your grace—Your undeserved favor—free of charge, although I don’t deserve it whatsoever. Thank You for the grace available to all who believe in Jesus, because He has already earned it for us on the cross. I accept Your grace for me right now. Amen.
