c.1635 BC In Edom, Job is a righteous and rich patriarch, but God allows Satan to destroy his children, possessions and health.
Note: Job may have been a Horite, a relative of Abraham’s brother Nahor (Genesis 22:20–21). Job lived in Uz near Mt. Seir, southeast of the Dead Sea where many Horites lived (Genesis 14:6). He had been a much-respected counselor, judge and advisor (Job 29:7ff). Job died around 1500 BC.
