Just Jesus: Answers For LifeSample
Eating Disorders
You are what you eat. This applies to our spirits and souls, too. Filling up with God’s Word keeps you spiritually healthy. Jesus spent mealtime with His friends and disciples, celebrating fellowship together, being filled with nourishment and love. Following His example brings joy and fulfillment. But when toxic emotions and habits that affect eating get between you and God, they break good connection. Using food to comfort or care for emotional needs won’t work because the same needs will still be there. Control and fear lie behind every eating disorder. What’s eating you? Your emotions will consume you if you let them. We are only as sick as our secrets. Talk with someone safe who will nurture you. Nurture yourself. Nurture your friend in need. Feed on God’s Word and let Him replace all toxic and isolating thoughts that shame. It takes courage to be vulnerable. We need to make it safe for each other to fail and get back up without holding on to unworthiness. Let Jesus nourish you.
Memory Verse
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4.
Declaration Prayer
I am God's child. I belong to God. I am a member of Christ's Body. I am assured all things work together for good. I have been established, anointed and sealed by God. I am confident that God will perfect the work He has begun in me. I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-discipline. I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me. I am forgiven. I have purpose. I have hope. I am included. I am sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. I have peace. I have access to the Father. I am secure. I am a holy temple. I am a dwelling for the Holy Spirit. I know there is a purpose for my sufferings. I am completed by God. I am complete, perfect and full in the Shalom peace of Jesus.
