Rise: Stepping Up To God's CallSample
A Generous Life
Have you ever worked hard to earn some money, and as soon as you had it, you ran right to the mall to get something, anything, just to spend the money? Or maybe you saved up for something special you have been wanting to buy. Either way, we tend to think of ourselves first: what I want, what is important to me, what I have earned.
Thought:
When Jesus corrected this man, it wasn’t because he was rich. Jesus was addressing an issue of the heart. This rich man was focused on himself, and what he could get out of life, as if that is what would bring him satisfaction! Jesus wants to use us daily, putting our faith into action. Generosity has less to do with money and more to do with a lifestyle. We have all been called by God to use our lives, and possessions, for His honor and to spread His fame.
Challenge:
- LOOK OUTWARD! Jesus said it is better to give than to receive. How does getting your eyes off yourself and onto others change the way you will go about today?
- LIVE GENEROUSLY! “Generosity has less to do with money and more to do with a lifestyle.” How can your life of Generosity have an impact on the unsaved friends around you?
- PRAY! Ask God to make you more generous: “Father, help me to live generously. You are a generous Father. Help me to be more like You, amen.”
