DAY #6

REALLY HAPPY!

Raising our five children was an incredible time mixed with difficult days, but also with overwhelming joy. I love happy families! Yet when I tried to think ahead to the future when my children would get married and have children, making me a grandmama, I had to strain my brain to try to grasp it, and it remained somewhat cloudy. Today they come to visit, and I hear their little feet pitter-patter across the floor as they run to find me to jump into my arms. I cannot express the sheer joy of having someone so little filled with so much love aimed at me! And then they often cry when they have to leave. My heart hurts with love for them. 

That joy and intense love are like the joy we feel when we experience the knowledge of the love God has for us. And even though at times it can seem a bit cloudy with all the day-to-day tasks, it’s real. There is great joy in the relationship, and we haven’t yet seen Him with our natural eyes. We see Him with the eyes of our spirit. We see Him through His Word and others’ encounters, but what will that day be like when we see Him face to face and fall into His arms, or maybe swoon at His feet before we can even get there?

He said, “I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am so will you be also.” I prepare parties, food, presents, books to read, vacations, and activities for my children and grandchildren because I want to express my great love for them. What joy I have in the preparation! Jesus is preparing a place for us to make our joy full when we see Him. We have joy now, but we haven’t seen anything yet! So if things seem a little rough today, don’t forget the joy of His love and the fuller experience of that joy that is yet to come!

“My joy is to see you walk in the truth of my Word so that I can bless you with my kingdom now, and in future days ahead, an even greater reward as you enter into the preparations we’ve already made for you! Keep your eyes on my love, and your heart will continually feast on the dreams I have for you. My love created you, and my joy will sustain you until that day.”
