Day 19: The Great Commission

Maybe you’ve heard of the Great Commission. Maybe you’re a part of a missional church? Maybe you’ve even been on a missions trip. All of these are well and good. Take a second and read Matthew 28:16–20 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, focus on Jesus’s instructions to the disciples.

Reflection

When they went, Jesus instructed the disciples to teach the new disciples to obey ALL the commands he’d given them. He then encouraged them that he would be with them always wherever they went. These same instructions remain true for us today. We are called to go everywhere, spreading the Good News of God’s love for all.

• When we think of missions, we often think of going overseas. But what about the people in our own communities?
• How can you pursue missional opportunities in your own neighborhood?
• Can you think of any ways that you might spread the light of Christ in you to others in your own sphere of influence?
