And What if I Fail?Prøve
Did you really do that?
“She caught him by his cloak and said, ‘Come to bed with me!’ But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.” (Genesis 39:12 NIV)
Way to go, Joseph! Because, it wasn't the first time Potiphar's wife tried to seduce Joseph. It happened on a daily basis, and I can only imagine how good she must have looked—and smelled!
How could Joseph resist her? More than anything else, he wanted to please God. That was firmly engraved on his heart. Before he was in danger of sinning, he had already decided to resist such temptation.
We should also consciously live that way: Before you get into a moment of temptation, you should have firmly decided how you will react in such a situation!
Also, Joseph had already decided beforehand to "Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22 NIV)
But what if it happened? What if you made that big mistake that you can't undo? You may have found yourself in a completely different situation than Joseph, but your failure weighs heavily on your soul at every moment.
Have you heard of the Japanese repair method for ceramics known as Kentsugi? In this method, missing shards of pottery are replaced with a putty containing the finest gold powder.
I myself own such a glass, which was once broken and actually intended to be thrown away. And do you want to know the truth? Today it is my most beautiful, even the most valuable, glass I own.
I would not have been able to put the individual shards back together. They had to be taken to an expert. Neither will you ever be able to put the pieces of your life back together yourself.
I want to encourage you to do just that today: come to Jesus, come to Jesus!
You are a miracle!
