Blessed

Dag 3 av 15

Throughout Scripture, two ways of living are laid out. Adam and Eve could choose to follow God, or not. Joshua told the people: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:15). Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego could bow down to the golden statue, or follow God. Jesus Himself said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction” (Matthew 7:13). Throughout the Bible, there’s a constant choice before us: pick a path.

Psalm 1:1-2 lays out exactly which path is the blessed one: “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.” The Bible is clear: the blessed life has nothing to do with money or fame. It has to do with following God. The early church was even called “The Way”—they were following the blessed path. When we get to heaven, we’ll see with our own eyes the people who followed the blessed way. God, please help us see Your path and follow it all of our days, straight to You.

Blessed

Our view of blessed is often tethered to a continually changing spectrum—our circumstances. If life is good, in our view, we’re blessed. If life isn’t going well, in our view, we’re not blessed. But is our definition of blessed the same as God’s? We’ll look at how God defines “blessed.” It turns out, we’re very likely missing how “blessed” we all are—regardless of what’s going on around us.
