Simple Steps Toward Intentional DisciplemakingPrøve
Day 3: Demonstration Over Explanation
Disciple-making is an invitation for others to follow you as you follow Christ.
The practice of raising up disciples is less about teaching and more about modeling “the outworking in life of the deeper realities of the Spirit,” writes Coleman.
Disciple-makers are living portraits of the way of Jesus. This is especially evident in the apostle Paul’s approach to disciple-making as seen in 1 Thessalonians 1 and 2. His heart for his disciples is evident in how he prayed for them and nurtured them at times as a mother and at other times as a father. He cared for them, and in so doing he modeled for them what making disciples looks like.

Every believer is called to make disciples. If God has given you a fresh vision for helping people know Christ, grow in their relationship with Him, and help others do the same, you are in an exciting place—at the core of Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)! Over the next six days we will explore how Jesus helped people grow spiritually—principles that are still essential for disciplemakers today.
