As the Church grew bigger, some administrative issues arose. The Apostles appointed seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom. Stephen was one of these men tasked to serve the people in the church.
When even priests started to put their faith in Jesus, other religious leaders got angry with Stephen, and they tried to find fault in his teaching or conduct. They could not find anything to object to and had to plant false witnesses to accuse him successfully.
When the Holy Spirit works in and through our lives, people will notice, and some might even be offended. Sometimes we feel unequipped for the tasks God call us into. But then Jesus sent his Spirit to equip us for every good work. And do work through us.
