Pray & Connect: Praying the Psalms for Your Children

Dag 4 van 10

Scripture: Read Psalm 91 for the full context of this passage.

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.” Psalm 91: 14-15

So often in challenging times, we find ourselves tempted to hold fast to our own strength and the things of this world but this Psalm reminds us to hold fast to God in love. The psalmist is specifically speaking about those who trust God, call on Him, and find refuge in the shadow of the Almighty. We see this trust unfold in the intimate words he uses to talk about God: my refuge, my fortress, my God.

The hope we find in Psalm 91 is not necessarily hope that we will not suffer as God's children, but rather, it is hope in knowing that He will never forsake us.

We can pray that our child's faith journey will be deeply rooted and grounded in His truth and love. May they draw near to God and hold fast to the Lord in the midst of trials and temptation.

Pray: Father God, we praise you because you are with us and rescue us in times of trouble. I pray that {your child's name} will come to know You as his/her refuge and fortress. May {your child's name) hold fast to You in love and call on You in times of trouble. Amen

Connect: Ask your child, "If you could have a superpower to help others what would it be?"
