Starting Your Day With GodVoorbeeld
Morning Topic: God’s Love
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus. The hymn is familiar to many of us. It’s one of my favorites because it’s so simple and it’s a great reminder of what our main desire should be in the morning––right from when we rise. The time we normally think about ourselves or keep our minds shut off...what if we took that time to focus our hearts on Christ. To do this, I think it’s important to focus on the things we know about God. The first I want to highlight is His love.
God’s love is unfailing. It (and He) is steadfast and never changing. Though we fail countless times, neglecting Him and actively rejecting Him, He never takes His love away. While the world is constantly moving and changing, His love is a solid foundation, perfect and without fault.
Every day will bring winds and waves that will topple us if we are on shaky ground. To survive, we need something sturdy beneath us where we can anchor ourselves. We try to find it in ourselves, our friends, our circumstances, our successes or efforts...it seems like we’ll try anything but run to God and ground ourselves in Him.
All the other things we think will carry us through aren’t enough. Not only do they change, but people and situations can take them away from us. This isn’t true about God’s love. Nothing real, imagined, or even unfathomable can separate you from it. God always loves you.
That said, it isn’t a free pass to treat Him any way you want to. He loves when you spend time with Him and worship Him with everything you do. He loves when you talk about Him and praise Him to everyone around you. He loves when you tell others about all the wonderful things He’s done to show them He loves them, too.
As you do these things (or strive to do them), remember to do them out of God’slove not to earn God’s love. Do them because God loves you, not so that God loves you. When you fail, as we all do sometimes, it does not change His love for you.
In the morning, before anything else influences you, ground yourself in the truth of God’s love. Rooted in it, you will grow to be unshakable.

Every morning, we prepare for the day––physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When it comes to spiritual preparations, how do we get our hearts on track as we wake up and start the day?
