AUTHOR OF LIFE

Peter and John were going to the temple and met a crippled man sitting beside the gate called the beautiful gate. He was begging for money, but Peter gave him something better. Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but in the name of Jesus, get up and walk!” The man was healed and stood on his feet and started to dance, leap, and praise God. This whole scene drew a crowd around Peter and John, and Peter saw his opportunity to address the crowd.
The opening line of his preaching is “What is so surprising about this?” implying that this is normal in the life of a Christian. And he goes on that the people rejected Jesus and killed the Author of Life. This man was healed by Jesus through Peter and John. And Jesus is the Author of Life. The author is someone by which things begin to be. Jesus was the beginning of life, and in Him, people start to be. After creation, when we made a mess of it, He came and recreated us into a new creation that lives by the power of the Spirit. In Him, we began to be. We were created and called to do His works here on earth in His image. The more we understand this, the more we realize that through Jesus, in us, things can start to be. And when we bring new life into this world through Jesus, we will see the Author of Life at work.

Jesus, Author of Life, thank you that I am created into a new creation in You. One made in your image and called to do your work here on earth. Help me to be faithful to your call.
