Dag 5 van 5

Applying The Ways Of God

Life is, for anybody including the Christian, anything but easy. We not only encounter regular garden variety struggles but sometimes it’s the people that are closest to us that provoke and challenge us the most.

The good news is that there is an answer to working through these challenges. The bad news is, however, that we will never resolve the issues within our own strength, wisdom, or limited graces. For the believer, resolution only comes by applying the ways of God and the wisdom of God. And these things are found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. For example, He says, ‘But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you’ (Luke 6:27–28).

I thank God that I’ve experienced rejection, misunderstanding, injustice, and slander against me by many people, including my best friends, which surprise, surprise, has given me a great understanding and compassion for other Christians and a love for the church. I believe that Jesus didn’t just want me to take these relationships from negative to neutral but to swing them through to positive.

Can I encourage you to study the life of Jesus Christ in the New Testament and take His words to heart? Firstly, pray for your enemies and, dare I say, bless them. And entrust your life and reputation to God. Do life His way and let Him vindicate you.

Challenging Situations

I don’t think anyone could say life is easy. It’s filled with twists and turns and unexpected tangents. Many times these twists and turns are challenging. Through our readings on challenging situations, our contributors will encourage us to shift our perspective when in the midst of trials and to remember that God is not overwhelmed, that He is with us, and that He is in control.
