How God Still Can Be Close After Adam and Eve had sinned, God still met with them. Also, when Cain had murdered Abel, God still talked to him and promised to protect him. God has always wanted to live in us, only that wasn’t possible anymore because of sin. So, what did He do? He stayed with us in the cloud by day, and in the fire by night. He lived with us in the Tabernacle. He went ahead of us and protected us. Only He couldn’t be ‘in’ us anymore. But God's perfect will has always been an intimate relationship with man. He wants to be our Father and for us to be His sons and daughters. Eventually He even gave us His only begotten Son—Jesus—to save us and to make that relationship possible. Jesus says in Matthew 18:11 “I have come to save that which was lost.” Not ‘who’ was lost, but ‘which’. What was lost? Our intimate relationship with the Father. He gave us His only Son when you and I still lived in deep darkness. When we didn’t want to know anything about Him, He gave us His only Son! The most precious thing He had. Did He do this because He was so angry with us and so disappointed in us that He actually would rather ‘punish’ us and let us be lost? No! This testifies of His love! This shows His true nature and who He is! An amazing, fantastic, loving, gracious, merciful, caring, blessing, healing, delivering, protecting God and Father! Hallelujah! He loves us and wants a relationship with us. That is the reason and the core of everything! God isn’t far away, but very close. He doesn’t punish; He forgives! He doesn’t curse; He blesses! He doesn’t make sick; He heals! He is not a wrathful God, but a loving Father! He wants to be everything for you if you let Him. We can get to know Him as father and have an intimate relationship with Him, in which He can be in us and we in Him. And in which you may fully get to know as He really is: Love.
