After Death: Discovering Heavenနမူနာ
“You die, and you're ripped off that flat black and white two-dimensional painting, and you're brought out into a three-dimensional room of color all around you. You're experiencing things you've never experienced before…”
Where We Belong
Have you ever entered a space and immediately thought you didn’t belong there?
Maybe it was a new school, a new small group, a new neighborhood, a new church, a new friend group. Whatever the place, you walked in and felt out of place. No matter how hard you tried to fit, something in your spirit knew it wasn’t the right place for you. Over and over, the thought just kept coming back:
I don’t belong here.
Well, as Paul reminds us here, the same is true for us on Earth. This isn’t the world we were made for. This isn’t the place we belong. As we’re moving through this world, we’ll never fully feel like we fit. We’ll never fully feel like we found the right place. We’ll never fully feel at home.
Because we’re not.
In these bodies,
on this Earth,
in this life,
we’re not where we ultimately belong.
There is a heaven that awaits us all as followers of Jesus. A place where we will ultimately belong. A place where we will be citizens for eternity. A place where everything we see here will seem only a feeble, black-and-white afterthought once we see the reality of heaven in all its bright and beautiful glory.
So, while we move through this world never fully at home, we can long and look for the heaven that awaits us one day. The place where we were always meant to belong.
A Prayer
Lord, I confess that I don’t feel like I fit in this world. And I’m so grateful to know I’m not supposed to! Thank You for the home that awaits me in heaven—a place I know I will belong forever.
