There Is Hope: A Road to Healingနမူနာ
The Lord Will Bring Words of Peace
Good morning/afternoon/evening beautiful! I am so glad to see you back here today.
I would like to share a little bit of my story with you. After my husband left, it seemed things got worse. He no longer wanted me, but still wanted to control me and things in my home. Trying to manage a full-time job, walk through a divorce with a controlling man, raise two young boys, and manage our home on only my salary along with normal life, it became too much. I lived in a constant state of anxiety and high alert because I didn’t know what he would do or say or threaten next. Fear was a constant companion for me in those days. Many nights after my boys would go to sleep, I would just cry tears and cry out to God. During this time, I found great comfort in the book of Psalms.
I also want to mention here that I would have nightmares due to the level of fear I felt. Even in my sleep I could not find rest, so I began to sleep with my Bible on my chest. It was such a comfort to me. If you are experiencing fear at night and have nightmares, give sleeping with God’s Word a try. Also pray before you go to sleep that God would protect your thoughts and your dreams; that He would fill them with peace, love, and rest.
Maybe you are currently where I was. Maybe you are living in fear, with anxiety, and are always on high alert. If you are, I encourage you to let the tears flow, cry out to God, and open up His Word.
I want to share some of the verses that helped me fall in love with the Psalms.
Psalm 71:12: O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me.
These words that David penned thousands of years ago were the cry of my heart. “Lord, please hurry!”
Psalm 40:11 and 13:
11 Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me. Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me.
13 Please, Lord, rescue me! Come quickly, Lord, and help me.
David got me. He had an urgency for God to come and help him. That is where I was too. “Lord, come NOW and protect me!”
Psalm 31:9: Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am in distress. Tears blur my eyes. My body and soul are withering away.
Me too David! I, too, have tear-filled eyes, my body and soul feel as if they are withering.
But as I read these relatable words that David penned, I also read some that brought me peace. I read them and they gave me hope and strength.
I invite you to read the following verses. By now you know what I am going to suggest you do: write them down, place them in your home and car, speak them out loud over your heart and mind, and meditate on these truths.

Statistics show that about 1 in 2 women have endured an attempted or completed sexual assault and 1 in 3 are impacted by domestic violence. This shows that we have many women who need hope and healing! I’m not an expert, just someone within those statistics who loves Jesus and wants to help others.
