Spiritual Warfare

The lives of many rests on the courage of a few. That is the way our sovereign God has written our story.

We are made to live in an epic story. Because of the nature of the story and our broken world, you do not make it through this life without wounds. With this in mind, we have to learn and resign ourselves to becoming warriors in the epic story that is our Christian life.

First things first, we have an enemy. Our enemy looks for every opportunity to devour us. To steal, kill, and destroy us. That is why Peter commanded us to resist and fight back. The Christian life isn’t lollipops and candy canes. If you don’t see yourself being attacked by the enemy, it is because you are not a threat to him. A surrendered, obedient, and available follower of Christ is a threat. You will have war brought against you.

One of the most powerful weapons our enemy uses against us is isolation. He takes us into isolation through confusion, distortion, deception, false guilt, obligation, shame, fear, etc. Satan’s interpretations of events are designed to get you to make agreements with the things that keep you in bondage. He wants us to make agreements with the message(s) of our wounds. They often sound something like:

• I am not a man
• I am not good enough
• I am a momma’s boy
• I am a failure
• God doesn’t speak to me
• I am alone

The list goes on. The attacks are so well scripted to your story, which makes the accusations seem so real. These attacks are deadly. They come viciously. Satan's number one goal is to take you out and away from the love and peace of God. You must fight!
