God's Redemption Story (Genesis)Sampel
After Joseph forgave his brothers, he moved his father, Israel, and the whole family to Egypt so he could bless them with food and land. But his brothers figured he was only being nice in front of Dad. Once Israel passed, they feared for their lives. Genesis 50:20 tells us how complete Joseph’s forgiveness was. “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” Joseph didn’t have some incredible ability to rid himself of hurt. He didn’t stuff down his pain and ignore it. He didn’t let his brothers off the hook and tell them what they had done was no big deal.
He simply chose to see things from God’s perspective.
When we focus entirely on the wrongs someone has done to us and how they’ve hurt us, we’re missing a crucial facet of life in Christ. If we can set down our weapons and turn to face Jesus, we’ll see what real forgiveness looks like. And we may even see the plan that God is working in our own lives.
