Day 6: How to Keep Going:
Over the course of this plan, we’ve talked about the reality of storms in our lives and even the good that comes from them, thanks to our Heavenly Father. But today, we’re looking into how we can continue to move forward amid storms. How do you keep going when a storm comes crashing into your life? What do you hold on to when everything is shaking?
Storms often feel like a thick fog—as if we have ended up in such a thick fog that we can no longer see anything around us. No matter where we turn, no matter where we look, we can not see. Not to the left or the right. Nothing ahead of, and nothing behind. And just like when you turn your car lights on brightly in a thick fog, it actually blinds you even more, and you see less.
We need to follow God's voice when we cannot see or know which direction to turn. And, no matter how bad the storm may be, God will never question or doubt us. He knows what we've been through. He knows the truth. And He knows what we need to make it out of the storm. This is why one of my favorite chapters is Psalm 23.
When you read this passage, you'll see David talking about God preparing a table for him “in the presence of my enemies,” that He would anoint his head with oil. This means God was at work despite the adversity in David's life. The same is true of your life. Whether or not you are in a storm, God is at work preparing a table for you and anointing your head with oil. Realize this and take comfort in it as you battle through your storm!
Dear friend, keep on walking, keep on trusting, and don’t try to figure everything out. There is light at the end of the tunnel; the supernatural power of God is working for you on your behalf. Not a single situation is getting out of hand or can separate you from the love of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
