Chosen: Rejected by People, Chosen a 5-Day Plan by Wanda WhiteSampel
Rejected by People, Chosen by God
Imagine for a moment that you were trying out for a sport or team. After try-outs, everyone would gather around to see the infamous “list” of chosen candidates. There would be anxiousness and excitement buzzing around in anticipation. Imagine when the moment of truth came. The “list” was posted. But there was one name missing: yours. How would you feel if you didn’t see your name on the list? Hurt? Ashamed? Embarrassed? Would you walk away feeling rejected?
Being chosen to be on the team was a big deal. It meant you had what it took. It meant you were qualified. But in order to be chosen, you had to try out. You had to apply. You had to perform. You had to be good enough. Maybe you had to look a certain way, be a certain height, a certain body weight, or have a certain skill set to make the team and each team required something different.
Maybe you weren’t chosen then, maybe that wasn’t the right team or the right time. That may be hard to hear but there’s good news; you are chosen now. In John 15:16, Jesus says “you didn’t choose me. I chose you”. Tell that to the enemy! The Maker of the universe picked you to be on His team and you didn’t even have to try out. Even though He knows everything about you, He still chose you from the beginning. You were chosen simply because He loves you.
He chose you from all the nations on earth to be His own treasure. As a matter of fact, He chose you before the creation of the world. He has a plan and a purpose for you. You are His beloved and He chose you even with your flaws and excuses. He chose you with your fears and insecurities. He chose you with your sass and class. He chose you as you are, and you are an important part of His team.
Reflection Question: Was there a time when you were not chosen by man? What was your response? Ask God to show you how that was a blessing.
Prayer
Thank you, God, for choosing me. You know all of my fears and failures, yet you picked me to be on your team.
