Confident Like DavidSampel
Talk about a thousand possibilities!
Yesterday we learned that David didn't let his brother's insult get him down...but there is much more to it than that...
"'What are you doing around here anyway?'" Eliab snapped at him. "'And who is taking care of those few sheep in the desert for you?'" (1 Samuel 17:28, NLT/NIRV)
Ah, does this statement ring a bell? An insecure person can cave into such an insult, retreat, and think, "Well, he's right. I should go back and do my real job. I am not even worthy of bringing bread to my brothers who are fighting hard here in the war. Who do I think I am?!"
A confident person—a person who knows who and whose he/she is (see the text from yesterday)—will have a different reaction to such a loaded statement. The person confident in God's leading in his/her life will begin by thinking, "Aha, you may feel threatened because you know who I am and to whom I belong. Hmm…and the fact that you emphasize the word "few" only shows me that you want to minimize everything I do because you need to feel bigger than me..."
What God is about to do…no one can stop! His plans are unstoppable because He says to you, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' … 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'" (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
I love the translation from the Good News Bible because it says, "'I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.'" (Jeremiah 29:11, GNBDC)
And here's my own translation I'd like to share with you: "My plan concerning you, is fixed and immovable! I want your happiness, not your unhappiness. I firmly intend to give you, a future in which you flourish. I, the Lord, tell you this because I love you!" Be confident in who you are in God and the future He has for you!
I, too, was told over and over again, "Oh, Déborah, stop your performances. There are so few people you can reach through them…it's not worth it!" If I had listened to that lie, those "few people" would never have become the "few thousand" I get to speak to every day through A Miracle Every Day. Do you see how important it is not to believe lies like these and to remain confident, trusting in God's future for you?! A thousand possibilities are always born when we trust in the small things and walk in confidence, knowing that God has prepared the way. ;-)
You're a miracle!

Let’s explore together the thought process in David's mind as he prepared to take on Goliath and why, when the time came, he was able to confidently stand against this Philistine giant. Prepare to become confident….like David.
