Our God ReignsSampel
Easy access to increasing amounts of information can leave our brains overwhelmed. The digital presentation of this material stimulates our brains, and in subtle and discreet ways it shapes our perceptions, views, and thoughts. Trusting God through prayer and daily surrender to Him is critical to rooting our identities fully in Jesus.
We often want to identify with who is in political office; that is why we vote for someone who aligns with what we believe to be “good values” or “strong policies.” How well do we really know those we vote for? How can we truly identify with them? The simplest answers are that we can never truly know any one person to their core and ultimately our levels of identifying with individuals will vary so much from person to person (1 Corinthians 2:10-11).
Only God can know us fully. He even knows us better than we could ever know ourselves (Psalm 139:2-3). When we can have our full identity rooted in Jesus, we can then begin to see our value through the eyes of God. Identity in Jesus releases us from receiving an identity from the world and politics.
Jesus left His throne to become human, live among us, and identify with all our struggles, disappointments, and hardships. He demonstrated that His identity was found fully in the Father, allowing him to resist temptations, to choose compassion, and to follow the path of obedience in everything. When we find our identities in Jesus alone, the political landscape becomes less consequential, and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ becomes more urgent. With our full identity in Jesus, we cannot be shaken or derailed from our ultimate calling and our spiritual fruit will grow beyond what we can comprehend (Matthew 28:18-20; John 15:5).
