Wisdom From EcclesiastesSampel
Your time of grace
When the wicked witch wanted to terrify Dorothy into giving up the ruby slippers, she took an hourglass and turned it upside down. “That’s how much longer you’ve got to be alive, and it isn’t long, my pretty!” Dorothy watched in horror as the grains of red sand rushed into the lower glass.
All of us have an invisible hourglass, marking off the minutes until there are no more. Our lifetime is slipping away. Does that thought terrify you? Solomon wants to tell you something about the importance of having God at the center of all your thoughts, about the meaning of your life, your relationship with him, and immortality: “Remember him--before the silver cord is severed, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, or the wheel is broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:6,7).
Your days on this earth are your time of grace--your opportunity to be reconnected with your Creator, your time to hear the gospel message of your Savior Jesus, your time to believe it and live it through the power of his Spirit. Jesus tells you that whoever believes in him will never die. Remember him!
Everything you lose on earth will be replaced in heaven. Don’t be afraid. Live every day God gives you with zest and appreciation for his blessings. When the last grain of sand has dropped, your new Adventure begins.
