Are You Happy? Sampel
Thankful for what you have
Let me ask you a question. Are you happy? No one’s listening. No one’s writing this down. I’m not asking you about your kids or your boss. I’m asking about you. Are you happy on a scale of 1 to 10?
I want to be clear here. I’m not asking if you should be happy. Theoretically, we should all be happy. We live in one of the richest nations in the world. Most of us have at least one car and a job. Many people have a house, have healthy kids, and are married to someone who loves them back.
Even if theoretically your life is pretty tough, I guarantee I can find someone who has it worse off than you. Try this: Next time you get a rash, just google “severe skin rash” and see if you aren’t thankful for the rash you do have! What just happened there? In an instant, you became thankful for what you do have rather than what you don’t.
Have you ever thought about what you have as a believer? Isaiah reminds us, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). You have something special. If you were the only one on this planet, God would have come to save you. Through Christ your sins are wiped clean. You’re a child of the risen God: forgiven, accepted, and loved. God has given you a purpose, and no one, not even the devil himself, can bring you down. That’s not theory; that’s the truth.
