Mama Needs A Do-OverSampel
Practice
We moms have so many teeny, tiny, insignificant responsibilities that pull us in different directions all day long that we can struggle to find a balance between what we need to do, what we want to do, and what we have to do. We need to check the diaper, answer the phone, solve a math problem, wipe up a spill, and pay the electric bill all in the same moment. We choose one and then the next, all the while pushing forward and hoping we’re being wise. Minute by minute, day in and day out. Shuffle, step, shuffle.
I have talked in previous chapters about the problems you are having and the plans you will make to get past them, but when the time comes to implement those plans it is one moment at a time.
You don’t win a war in one giant blast. You have a small battle, win or lose, keep going, prepare for the next, get better at it, and try again, until you look back upon more victories than losses and realize how far you have come.
Here is the five-step formula to get you started with flipping those irritating situations into something that will create a joy-filled memory.
1) Breathe deeply
2) Pray and praise
3) Dig through your bag of tricks
4) Take a step of faith
5) Repeat if necessary
