Everybody gets the blues sometimes. Everybody knows what it’s like to be down. The worst thing at times like that is to be isolated and alone. We need other people to help lift us up.
The ultimate comforting friend is God the Holy Spirit. When we are plagued by doubts that God loves us, the Spirit reminds us of the Calvary love of Christ our Savior, and then all is better.
The Bible says in Romans 8:16,17, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” In the Spirit you’ve got a friend--you’ve got a friend in heaven.
