A Year of Prayer: Season One Weekday Devotionals

75 पैकी 33 दिवस

Have you ever been embarrassed by spilling something on yourself? Maybe you’ve hurt yourself in public or dropped something. And a kind friend, family member or even stranger has come to comfort and attend to you. ‘Come, now’.

God approaches us with an even deeper level of grace in our shame, pain, or self-consciousness. Binding our wounds, dealing with our sins, and exhorting us to rest, God’s ‘Come, now’ is a gentle respite in the face of harshness.

There’s something so inherently comforting about the words ‘Come now.’ The original language communicates an entreaty, an invitation to approach or be led. When God extends God’s hand to us, there is a gentleness and expectation of intimacy and friendship.

Will you join God in this invitation to hope today?

Prayer: God, help me to heed your prayer over me, to hear your voice, and keep listening in the rain and confusion as well as sunshine and clear.

Action: sit somewhere quiet and peaceful and reflect on the words ‘Come, now.’ What is God speaking over you like a lullaby?
