Unworthy

In this episode of The Chosen, Mary wrestles with a heavy question: after everything she has done and everything that has happened to her, how could she possibly return to Jesus again? She feels unworthy and is convinced she has ruined her chance.

Can you relate to that feeling? Maybe there was a wrong choice, a painful moment, or a pattern that crept in over time, and suddenly the thought came into your mind: Maybe I’ve gone too far. Maybe Jesus doesn’t want me anymore.

But God’s Word tells us differently.

John 1:12 says that everyone who believes in Jesus and receives Him becomes a child of God. That identity doesn’t get cancelled when you stumble. It doesn’t fade when you feel ashamed. You can "un-friend" someone, but once a "child," always a child.

Think about what that means. The Creator of everything calls you His own. You belong to His family. You carry His name.

There may be moments when something comes between God and you – sin, distraction, fear, shame. That happens to every believer, but those things do not change who you are. They cannot undo the identity God has given you. God gives us a simple path back to Him: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins. Confession is our way of returning to the One who already paid for our freedom. It is stepping back into the light where healing and restoration happen. Jesus will meet you there every time.

Prayer

Lord, Thank You for calling me Your child. Thank You that nothing that can separate me from Your love. When I feel unworthy or ashamed, help me to come to You quickly. Lord, wash me clean and remind me that I belong to You. Amen.
