Worship

DAY 4 OF 7

True and proper

Christian worship extends far beyond the confines of a church service or the catchy melody and infectious beat of a worship song. It’s meant to encompass every facet of our lives, permeating our thoughts, words and every action. In this scripture, Paul exhorts us all to present our bodies and in fact every part of our lives as a living sacrifice to God. He even refers to this kind of life as ‘true and proper worship’, underscoring the reality that worship is not confined to a specific place or activity but is rather a lifestyle characterised by surrender and devotion to God. As a living sacrifice, our very existence becomes an offering to God. Every minute of every day.

Real worship is more than just a routine or a duty; and more than something to be compartmentalised, added to our to-do list and slapped into our online calendars. It’s a developing, profound and powerful lifelong journey of connection with our living God.

When we grasp the fullness of worship, we realise it’s not just about the moments we spend in prayer, praise or God’s Word, but about how we conduct ourselves in our daily lives. Whether we’re at work, home or play, every action and decision can be an expression of worship when done with a heart that seeks to honour God.

As we deepen our connection with Him through worship – the whole of your life, every aspect of your life, your whole-body kind of worship – we not only thwart the enemy’s advances but also experience the fullness of life and freedom found in Christ.
