Reflections on Truthनमुना

God is truth, His word is truth. In today’s world where it is often frowned upon to define things such as right and wrong, or truth, it is deeply reassuring to have a source of truth higher than ourselves and more stable than the ever-changing culture around us. Fashions change, who and what is popular changes, and even what is defined as right and wrong by society’s standards, changes. We have a solid, consistent, and perfect source of truth to base our beliefs and values on. God’s character is entirely trustworthy and unchanging, the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrew 13:8). While everything around us may be variable, our God is our solid foundation. We can base our lives on the truth of His word, finding in it stability, strength, wisdom, and joy.

Many in our world today feel they must sway and change with the world around them, unsure how to set their own values, and feeling that it is unacceptable to stand against what others believe. When we don’t have our beliefs and values grounded in something bigger than ourselves, we are vulnerable to the circumstances, opinions, and pressures around us. In contrast, when God’s truth lives in us it enables us to bring truth and wisdom to the world around us. We can show a different perspective. We can be the calm in the storm for ourselves and others, because of the security and guidance God gives us. Roots grounded in God and His truth produce fruit of peace, wisdom, and joy, fruit that can bless not only us but also those around us.

Lord, I thank You that You are truth, that Your character is perfect and Your word unchanging. Thank You that in this ever-changing world, I can have You as my firm foundation.
