Day 4: Accepting God’s Will:

Today, we’re talking about taking the next step. Once we are able to discern God’s voice, we must obey it and accept His will for our lives. And yes, God has a purpose for you (Just look at Psalm 57:2)!

The Lord requires full obedience once He has revealed His will—not partial obedience, but full obedience, even when we would choose the exact opposite scenario. In the book of Daniel, chapter 3, we are well acquainted with the story of three Hebrew boys who were thrown into a very hot furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were friends of Daniel. King Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown in the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to the golden image of the king.

The ultimate example of accepting God’s will was evident in the lives of these Hebrew boys. Even though they were threatened with sure death, they chose to follow God’s commands which clearly stated that they were not to worship any idols. They demonstrated true obedience and surrender and were thrown into the furnace. Then God delivered them while providing the supreme revelation of a fourth man walking in the fire with them.

It is important to realize that troubles can also be a means by which God gets the glory, so we must accept the good and bad as it could all be part of God’s divine will for our lives. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego surrendered to their fate and God was glorified.

The final stage of the crucified life, and I believe one of the main reasons we should always accept God’s will, is that it leads to a revelation of God in our lives and the lives of those around us in a spectacular way (See Daniel 3:24-25).

It is only when we surrender our personal agendas and dreams and grab hold of God’s perfect plan and desires for our lives that we can have satisfaction in life and live the exceedingly abundant life! Are you ready to surrender your plans and accept God's will for your life?
