The FORK
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13: 14 (NKJV)
After spending time focusing on the most powerful weapon on this earth for the Kingdom of God, the cross, we now have to study the greatest weapon on earth for the kingdom of darkness, the fork that feeds our flesh. As warriors for Jesus on this earth, by His grace and strength, we have to study and know our enemy. We cannot think for one minute that satan and his demons aren’t waiting to devour us. He is waiting and ready to launch an attack against anyone who advances the Gospel.
The last thing satan wants is for men to live courageously for Jesus by carrying our cross daily and sharing about the power of the resurrected cross. Satan wants to see men overlooking the importance of loving Jesus wholly, loving their wives like Christ, training their children up in the Lord, and evangelizing the Good News of Jesus Christ daily. There are so many areas where satan and his demons will sidetrack us in this life so we don’t pursue these most important things daily.
What are some of these sidetracks? From overly loving football, to being overly committed to our careers, to ignoring the health of our bodies, to watching a little porn here and there describes just a few of the sidetracks we can find ourselves on. I truly believe there is a war every morning of our lives to pursue anything other than loving Jesus and loving others like Jesus. I say then:
Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:16-17 (NKJV)
