Who Am I

DAY 15 OF 20

After Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the garden of Eden, Scripture tells us that something awful happened for the first time: Adam and Eve felt shame. They were so embarrassed by their nakedness, they covered themselves up. After discussing what happened and the results of it, God made them animal-skin coverings that were better than the ones they had made of fig leaves. In other words, God gave Adam and Eve what they needed to continue to live beyond their sin. God took it upon Himself to help fix the problem. God did nothing wrong. In fact, He was the one wronged here! Still, He fixed it anyway. Even though we sin, we don’t have to feel ashamed. The same God who provided animal coverings for the ashamed Adam and Eve left His throne and gave His life so His blood would provide forgiveness covering for our sins. That’s how much God loves us! He didn’t want to abandon us in our helplessness, so He came to cover our shame.

Today, remind yourself that a crucial part of your identity isn’t that you’re a sinner; it’s that you are forgiven and rescued by the love of God.
