[Gregg Matte Wisdom of Solomon] Deep Roots in Relationshipनमुना
No Secrets
Public displays of affection, otherwise known as PDA, are common nowadays. You’ll see hand-holding, flirting, and kissing everywhere you look, for it is part of our culture. In the Bible times, this was not common. This passage can make it seem like something weird is going on, but Solomon’s wife is being playful. She says she wishes Solomon was a family member, because then she could put her arm around him, hold his hand, and kiss him and not be frowned upon. She says she wants to take him to her mother’s house, who taught her. Her delight was so great. All she wanted to do was tell the world how much she loved him. They had journeyed together for so long that now they were trying to outdo one another in serving with love.
What do we do with this information? We take this into our relationships, and we love each other well. Here’s what will happen when you do that: your relationship should mature and deepen. If we don’t follow God in this, men left to themselves will become stale, and women left to themselves will become sour. The man will find the most comfortable chair and just sit around doing nothing. The woman will start to nag and become bitter, for even the breathing of a stale man irritates her.
Let’s not become stale; let’s not become sour. If you end up with a stale man or sour woman, you just tolerate each other. Instead of desire and the relationship deepening, you become roommates. No matter how long you have been married, begin to embrace all the moments of maturation in your marriage. When you do this, you will start to fortify your marriage for the future. Follow God during every up-and-down moment. Walk with Jesus knowing that no matter how far you have fallen in the standard laid out for us in the marriage of Solomon, you can find forgiveness right now. If you have lost your loved one, you can look back and thank God for all the good moments. For those still married, spend time right now and thank the Lord that you will cherish every future moment.
Start to serve and try to out-serve one another. This way of the Lord is better, better than anything you will read in any book, and better than any marriage you can imagine. Run to Jesus, and you will find a fresh start. Run to Him, and you will find the strength to love how you want to be loved and how He has loved you. Then your love will overflow, and you won’t care who knows how much you love Jesus and how much you love your spouse.
