The God of Harvest
Let me ask you a question. What is a harvest? Harvest is an act of bringing in the crop. Therefore, it is also a master plan. So that there is no loss due to a labor shortage, a harvester must not only know when to harvest but also how big the harvest is likely to be.
A harvest is a master plan in the sense that the farmer must know what fields to harvest and when. This means they have a supreme sense of the condition of the crop, when it was planted, and which field is ready now.
This gives us another name for God the Father: The Master Planner of the Harvest. He has been working in the fields. To harvest those fields, God sent His Son.
You have multiplied the nation and increased the joy; they rejoice before You according to the joy of harvest and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. —Isaiah 9:3, MEV
To bring in the harvest, we must quit doing things our way and surrender to the ongoing master plan of God’s harvest.
Think about it. The prayer Jesus prescribed was this, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matt. 9:37–38).
These laborers were somewhere else and had to be called into the harvest. So where were they? And what were they doing?
If you are truly open to what I am trying to tell you, then you are ready to hear the next burning truth: You cannot do His labor until you cease from your own. This means you are waking up to the reality that you have been working for God, not with Him.
Then another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap. The time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” —Revelation 14:15, MEV
