Have you ever been so scared or nervous that it was hard to do something? Did it feel like you were frozen, or like time was standing still? Have you ever felt like you knew the right thing to do, but you couldn't do it because something was holding you back? 

Bravery is a feeling of confidence or strength, even when you are faced with trouble or danger. During those times, it's easy to forget that God is bigger than our problems. That's why we need reminders of exactly who God is. 

Read Psalm 27:1-3.

When we find ourselves in scary or uncomfortable situations, or when we feel like we're alone in the dark, we need to remember that God is with us. He is our light. Bravery isn't about overcoming our fears alone. It's about remembering how strong and powerful God is. When we remember that, we realize that there is absolutely nothing to fear.

Activity:
GAME: Lights Out
Parents - Tonight before bed, give your little belle a flashlight. When she's ready, turn off all the lights and sit together in the dark, in silence. After a few minutes, ask her how she feels. What does she notice about the dark? How would it be different if you weren't sitting right next to her? Remind her that the dark can be lonely and scary. Now, give her a chance to shine the light around the room. Encourage her to shine it in different places (preferably, not in your eyes!). Ask her how it makes her feel when she gets to turn the light on. 
Wrap-up: Remind her that everywhere she pointed the light, the darkness went away. This is what God is: our light in the darkness. When He is there, the darkness goes away! Pray together and thank God that, because of who He is, we don't have to be afraid. Ask Him to help you be ready for moments that will be scary. Ask Him to help you remember that He is with you, and there is nothing to fear. You can be brave because of who He is!
