90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for Women

90 पैकी 12 दिवस

Yesterday you were asked to identify the root of your addiction… the root cause of your intimacy disorder. If you are still searching, ask the Lord to reveal it to you. If you know it, it might have been difficult for you to remove the band-aid and it brought you additional pain. If that is so, I am sorry. Causing pain is not the intent here, but this is when things start to get real.

It is now that we begin the process of forgiving our offenders… “to let go and let God” as the saying goes, and to allow ourselves to fully surrender. Forgiveness is the cornerstone of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and without His forgiveness for us, as His offenders, where would we be? The same is true of those who offend us. We must forgive in order to be forgiven. Take Matthew 18:21-35 as an example.

Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”

“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!"

Jesus continues with the parable of the ungrateful servant who was forgiven of an enormous debt by his master, but throws his own servant in prison for a debt much smaller than his.

“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

But what if they never said they were sorry? You are still to forgive—just as Christ forgave us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Forgiving someone or a situation that happened doesn’t mean that you forget, but it does mean you choose to release the stronghold it has on you from causing anymore havoc in your heart or your life. Withholding forgiveness is like drinking poison hoping to hurt the other person. It only ends up hurting you.

Who or what do you need to forgive in order to move forward in surrender? Below the journal space is a short prayer for you use to release and surrender these hurts over to God’s just and righteous hands.

Dear God,

Today, I chose to forgive ________________ for_____________________. Father, when they did these things it made me feel _____________________________. I want to take the burden of anger, resentment, and hurt from my control and put them at the foot of the Cross. Thank you for healing the impact these have had on my body, mind, and spirit. I thank you for the process of healing and I thank you to finish the healing work in me. But today I choose to let the enemy and myself know this is forgiven and you will complete this for me.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.
