8 Days to Rethink Your Thinking (For Wives)नमुना
Are your thoughts about your husband LOVELY?
You don’t often hear someone say “think lovely thoughts” about your husband! However, according to Philippians 4:8 we are to think lovely thoughts.
Lovely in this passage is the Greek word, “prosphiles”. It simply means acceptable and pleasing. When you take the accurate view of the word, all of a sudden “lovely thoughts about your spouse“ makes way more sense.
So, what are acceptable and pleasing thoughts about your husband? Let’s go back to the word of God. Ephesians 5:22-33 is a commonly known passage about marriage. The very first thing listed in verse 22 (NASB1995) is this: “Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.” What does “being subject to your husband” mean and why is it relevant to thinking lovely thoughts about him?
First of all, ‘subject' means to submit to your husband, to ‘think of him’ in his Biblical place as the head of the household. You may be thinking “but he doesn’t act like the head of the household. He isn’t worthy of that place.” While that may be true, it doesn’t eliminate you from following God’s Word. Nowhere in this passage does it say submit to your husband if he deserves it. It asks us to “be subject“. What we also know is that as we choose to do what the Word asks us to do, we put ourselves in a place for God to work on our behalf.
Taking this position is pleasing and acceptable to the Lord. It may take some effort to begin to think about your husband as the biblical head of the household and choosing to act as if he is, but as you do that, you will be thinking lovely thoughts about your husband.
Choose today to think lovely, acceptable thoughts.
