Don't Let Politics Steal Your Peaceनमुना
Whose side is Jesus on, politically?
Someone once said, “Jesus didn’t come to take sides. He came to take over.”
Jesus came to bring the Kingdom of God here on earth. His life, death, and resurrection are the example of what this Kingdom stands for. As followers of Christ, we are called to live by the standards of His Kingdom. We are called to be on His side.
This means we recognize that no government of man will provide the security, connection, and control we need. Only God can do that. We pledge our allegiance to Him first. We live in the world, but always remember that God is the source for what we need. This brings peace and confidence, no matter what the political climate may bring. It also causes us to be examples to the world around us.
Daniel lived under the rule of the king of Babylon. But he didn't forget that he pledged allegiance to God, first. He knew he was an ambassador of God's Kingdom right where he lived. He set an example of peace and love, right in the middle of that kingdom.
We are called to be ambassadors, as well. No matter what happens around us, we pledge allegiance to another King and he is where our peace and confidence comes from.
Eventually, the king of Babylon had an encounter with God's power. God humbled him. He was forced to recognize that God was the supreme King over the world. His words, recorded in today's verse, are a great reminder for us that God is ruling and reigning over the rulers of the earth. He is in charge and He will accomplish His purposes.
We live as ambassadors of the Lord in our own country. We walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control, showing our world what our allegiance to a higher kingdom looks like.
Keep your eyes focused on Jesus, not a leader or a politician, and you can be confident that politics won't steal your peace.
