Weak Is the New Strongनमुना
When you have the opportunity to, do you accept help from others? Why or why not?
“No thank you.” For a long time this short phrase was one of my top frequent responses from my mouth as people saw me in my wheelchair offering me help to get through a door, get my wheelchair out of my Jeep, offering to push me across the street and many other ways to help me. This became so common that I’d say “no thank you” before anyone could get out the question, “May I help you?” What if the paralytic responded this way to his friends when they wanted to help him through the roof to get to the feet of Jesus? I put myself in the paralytic’s shoes and I’d want Jesus and everyone to see me get to Jesus myself. We are used to meditating on the friends’ faith to help the paralytic be lowered through the roof to get to Jesus, but what about the paralytic man’s faith to let himself be totally weak, vulnerable and helpless to let his friends help him meet Jesus? In result of this humility, the friends experienced the bond of team work, the friends got to see Jesus heal their friend which I’m sure impacted their life, the man known as a paralytic, now can walk! As if that’s not amazing enough, He encountered God who forgave his sins. All this happened because the former paralytic did not respond with “no thank you.” Now I consider it a blessing and an opportunity to respond with “yes, please.” when someone offers to help me. I’ve shared the Good News of Jesus with countless number of people by letting them help me. Also, this has given me many friendships I cherish to this day!
What areas of your life can you be more vulnerable with others to let them help you? How do you foresee you and them experiencing the love of Jesus through this?
