Unlocking Your Daughter’s True Potentialनमुना
Owning Your Assignment
Earlier, I told you I was scared about my ability to raise my daughter and the fear and pressure that were almost too much to bear.
I was afraid that, because I never expected or planned to be a mom, I wouldn’t know what to do… and that I’d majorly screw it up.
If I ended up raising her well, it would only be because I pieced together a few parenting strategies that I found online and got lucky.
But, I also told you that a wave of inspiration showed me that when I began to connect what I know about leadership and our feminine design and apply it to how I lead and mentor girls (including my own daughter), things immediately started to fall into place.
I felt excited to be her mom.
I felt invigorated and alive.
The confusion about what to do or how to approach certain challenges lifted and I started to see things clearly.
I believe this is because, as moms, we need to own our credibility.
Mama, you have to learn to trust and believe in yourself.
The truth is that we struggle. We wrestle with our ability to do this job well. We question, we doubt, we stress over whether or not we’re “doing it right.”
To me, this became a conundrum… How can I break this cycle of doubt and begin to own the sphere of influence God assigned me to?
How can we begin to trust and believe that there is absolutely no one more qualified on this planet to raise our daughters than we are?
What will it take?
Mama, regardless of how you feel or how much you trust or don’t trust your abilities on any given day, God did not make a mistake when He gave her to you.
You can own your assignment because you can trust the One who assigned it.
Challenge #1: To be the person she was created to be, her most authentic and genuine self, and to lead effectively, your girl will have to learn to trust and believe in herself. She’ll need to have confidence and feel secure enough in herself to believe that she can do things that are hard, make decisions that are difficult because they are the right ones, she’ll have to be able to see the bigger picture so she can own whatever spheres of influence she will be assigned to. That’s the first challenge.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has great plans for all of us. How encouraging is it that our creator knows the great plans He has for us. Your girl can have confidence and security in that.
Challenge #2: Your daughter will need to learn how to build trust and rapport inside her relationships so that others will trust and believe in her too. Being a person who others can trust is vital to her ability to bring others along on whatever journey she wants to lead them on, whatever change she wants to implement, whatever goal she seeks to attain.
